About Kahina - Birth doula in the North East
Founder of Nalya Birth Studio
Birth has always felt deeply powerful to me.
Not just as the moment a baby enters the world, but as a profound transition where a woman steps into a new version of herself : The Matrescence.
My path to becoming a doula was not only professional — it is deeply personal.
Before supporting other families, I experienced birth and motherhood in many different ways myself.
I am a mother of three, and my own journey through pregnancy and birth has been rich, complex and transformative.

Along the way, I experienced a wide range of situations — including ectopic pregnancy, induction of labour, epidural, hospital birth, physiological homebirth in water, breech baby, transfer to hospital during homebirth, caesarean and many years of breastfeeding including tandem feeding and weaning at different ages. Yes, ALL THAT !
Each experience taught me something powerful about birth, about women, and about the importance of feeling supported, informed and truly heard. These experiences shaped the way I support families today. They taught me that every birth story is unique — and that with the right support, women can approach birth with confidence, calm and trust in their bodies. Each experience has helped me develop a deeper connection with mothers and genuine understanding of how they feel throughout every stage of their journey.
Becoming a Doula
I first began supporting families in France in 2020, offering postpartum and breastfeeding support. A few years later, after moving to the UK, I briefly considered training as a midwife. I started studying and had the opportunity to work within an NHS maternity ward in London.
While this experience deepened my understanding of maternity care, it also confirmed that my true calling lies in holistic, continuous support — helping families navigate pregnancy and birth with knowledge, confidence and informed choices, rather than focusing solely on the medical side of care.

This is what led me to become a birth doula. I trained to support families through pregnancy, birth and postpartum, with a particular focus on physiological birth and breastfeeding support. First in France in 2020 with L’Ecole du Bien-Naître, then in UK in 2026 with my BirthBliss Doula certification.
My work combines:
• evidence-based information
• emotional support
• practical preparation for birth and postpartum
• a calm and reassuring presence
My role is not to replace medical care, but to help you navigate your choices, understand your options to feel supported and empowered throughout your journey. I work closely with a trusted network of professionals — including chiropractors, osteopaths, midwives, obstetricians and pelvic floor physiotherapists — so that the families I support can benefit from truly holistic care throughout their journey.
Nalya Birth Studio
Empowered Birth, Supported Motherhood.
Nalya Birth Studio was created as a space where families can prepare for birth and early parenthood without fear or pressure. A place where questions are welcome, preparation feels empowering, and parents can approach birth with calm confidence.
The studio will be located at Dobson House, Regent Centre in Gosforth, Newcastle and will begin welcoming families from April 2026.
The vision for Nalya is to create a warm, peaceful and nurturing space where parents can attend consultations, birth preparation sessions and small group workshops in a relaxed and supportive atmosphere.
In the meantime, consultations are currently available :
• in the comfort of your home
• around a coffee in a relaxed local setting
• or online if preferred
My goal is always to meet you in a way that feels easy, comfortable and supportive for you.
My Philosophy
I believe that birth is not something that needs to be controlled or fixed. It is something that can unfold beautifully when women feel safe, informed and supported.
My approach centres around:
• physiological birth
• informed decision making
• respect for every family’s choices
• personalised care
Whether you are planning a hospital birth, a birth centre birth or a home birth, my role is to walk alongside you with calm guidance and steady support.
A Personal Note
One of the most beautiful parts of this work is witnessing the moment when a woman begins to trust herself. When fear slowly turns into confidence. When she realises that birth is not something happening to her — but something she is fully capable of moving through. Supporting families during this transformation is an incredible privilege. And I would be honoured to support you too.
